I lost my mom when I was 14. I didn’t realize how much I would miss her when I found out that I was going to be a mom for the first time. My home visit nurse filled the void that I was missing in my support circle. She offered me a listening ear and reassurance that I believe my mom would have offered had she still been here.
I hope more families can be blessed by the organization. I cannot speak highly enough of my experience.

My daughter before she turned two said she wanted to be a doctor. Now she’s 7.5 years old and is THRIVING! She still has the dreams of being a doctor. And this all started with our nurse that visited us and put up with my anxiety and millions of questions.

Effie: NFP you are INSTRUMENTAL in my success!
Being engaged with this organization has stoked the fire for a passion surrounding healthy pregnancy motherhood and early childhood health and educational experiences. Majority of my work in public health has been fueled by my time in NFP. As a mom in the program my confidence about my career and earning potential skid right to a halt when I realized we were expecting. My nurse constantly encouraged me to take leaps of faith and reminded me regularly I had skills and talents that would get me far in spite of what it currently looked like. Lo and behold she was absolutely right. Having safe and trusted medical advise combined with social and parenting support is an opportunity no first time parent should be without, let alone the most vulnerable families. I hope the organization grows like wildfire, has unprecedented bipartisan support and freedom to support families and babies who desperately need and those who may not really look like they do on the outside because that was me.

After graduating from the program in 2014 it’s been such an amazing journey to stay connected to Nurse-Family Partnership by starting out and joining the local Community Advisory Board and realizing that voice needs to be heard. From that connection, I have been able to participate in advocacy events and eventually began working for the National Service Office. I truly hope that the organization will continue to amplify the voices of the families that we serve by providing them a platform to share their stories and advocate to make room for more families to experience the life-changing programs that NFP and Child First offer.

It has given me confidence as a mom and a sisterhood as a woman.
